Hostas in fresh mulch with river-rock edging along a paver walkway and brick building in Chantilly

Bush trimming and mulching are part of the year-round care we offer to keep your property clean, dry, and looking its best.

Regular trimming keeps shrubs in shape and keeps them from crowding siding, windows and walkways. Allen’s plant knowledge goes into how each shrub is cut, so it looks tidy without being cut back harder than it should be.

A fresh layer of mulch finishes a bed and does practical work too: it helps the soil hold moisture, keeps weeds down, and protects roots from summer heat and winter cold.

Trimming and mulching go well together, and with leaf removal in the fall, they keep the whole property looking cared for through the seasons.

How often should beds be mulched?

Most beds benefit from a fresh layer about once a year, often in spring, with a top-up when it thins out. We’ll tell you what your beds need when we see them.

How deep should mulch be?

A layer of about 2 to 3 inches is the usual recommendation, kept pulled back from tree trunks and the stems of shrubs.

Can you combine trimming and mulching with other work?

Yes. Many customers pair them with planting, leaf removal or drainage work. Mention everything in your quote request and we’ll include it in one estimate.
